0 Question: Why is mercury the only liquid metal on the periodic table? Keywords: element, liquid, mercury, metal, periodic table Asked by 358chea24 to Sarah on 17 Nov 2014.

Because it’s bad at sharing electrons, so it’s easier to break the bonds between mercury atoms than other metal atoms in the periodic table – hence why it’s liquid at room temperature
