      Hi there
Fruit often gets diseases and so far we have managed to use our scientific brains to overcome the problem. It is a bit like finding a medicine for a plant and equally as important. I think crop science is fascinating.

Angela’s right – there are already fruit diseases that affect our food supply. These could be solved using drugs, or by genetically modifying the fruit so they’re no longer susceptible, or growing it in a different location if it’s a disease spread by other plants or animals.

Most fruit diseases are caused by fungi so most of the treatments we currently have are chemical sprays which kill the fungi.
