It’s great being a professional scientist. A lecturer once said to me when you do a PhD you end up knowing more about the topic you’re studying than anyone else in the world. That’s true, and a great feeling. Day to day it’s great to be able to plan and carry out science experiments and be able to understand so much about what’s going on around you. I also like the uses and applications of science, not just finding things out but thinking about how to use them. Day to day you have to make sure that you’re being honest and responsible in the work you do and take responsility for your actions.
