      Hi there

It is a bit of a myth really….just imagine the poor spider, it probably finds a sleeping human terrifying. The person breathes, has a beating heart and perhaps snores – these will all create vibrations that warn spiders of danger – as vibrations are a big part of a spiders “early warning system”, so I don’t think a spider would willingly approach – even if you slpt with your mouth open!

You can do, but only as a completely random and one-off event. The whole “you eat 8 spiders a year in your sleep” thing is a lie as spiders usually could not care less about humans and are not likely to crawl into our mouths to certain death (which is good for both them and us!)
