I guess new treatments will allow us to have a better quality of life as we get older, allowing us to fulfil our ambitions and not allowing illness to hold us back. Because we are living longer we do have more chance of developing illnesses – I think I will be able to look back on my life and say ‘I made a difference and my medicines allowed people to spend more time with their families and less time in treatment’.

Scientists will keep inventing new treatments for cancer patients so they can spend more time with their families than in hospital. Treatments that already exist for people with cancer will continue to work and help prevent this deadly disease.
