• Question: how long do you think it will be when animals are mixed together and kept as house pets.

      Hi Brittany eye – I dont think it will happen. The problem is when you mix species, for example a horse and a donkey, the resulting animal is infertile, so you can’t breed from them again. This is because of their genes and so it is why naturally in the wild species don’t interbreed. I don’t think I would like my pet to look like half cat / half dog!

      I agree with Angela – it’s not likely! People with too much money may want to have a hybrid animal, but it wouldn’t be able to reproduce and there would probably be some health problems. Genetic diversity is good, but only within species!
