If you have a near death experience – i.e. if you are nearly dead and brought back to life via resucitation it looks like there are some explanations for these experiences from nueroscience.

I think that once you’re dead, you’re dead though, so make the most of every day.

      Hi flori
I have a relative who had a heart problem and his heart stopped. He was resuscitated and is now fit and healthy – I asked him about his ‘near death’ experience and he can’t remember anything about it at all, he says he thinks his mind actually blocked it all out. so I thinik everyone is different when it comes to these things.

They’re definitely an interesting phenomenon! When people die and are revived there are often stories of seeing white lights or feeling comforted. From a scientific point of view this is due to abnormal brain activity either shortly before oxygen supply to the brain stops, or during the time the person is being revived, as an effect of the brain coming “back online”.

Of course, some people argue that after-death/ near-death experiences are evidence of an afterlife, but this hasn’t been proved scientifically.
